National Drug Take Back Day - April 24, 2026

National Drug Take Back Day – THIS FRIDAY

Denton County ESD 1 is proud to support National Drug Take Back Day, a nationwide effort to safely dispose of unused or expired medications and help prevent misuse, accidental poisoning, and overdose. Proper disposal matters—most misused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, often from home medicine cabinets.

Join us on April 24 at Station 511 (511 Gibbons Rd S) from 10am-2pm to safely dispose of your unused medications. We will be giving away FREE SUDS (Single-Use Disposal System) kits available to help you safely dispose of medications at home.

Through our partnership with the University of Houston Prescription Drug Misuse Education and Research (PREMIER) Center, all Denton County ESD 1 fire stations have free disposal kits available year-round in our lobbies—not just on Take Back Day. These kits allow you to safely deactivate medications at home and reduce the risk of misuse.

In addition to our stations, you can also use permanent drug disposal kiosks at Argyle PD and Bartonville PD, available to the public for ongoing safe disposal.

Please note - We cannot accept syringes, liquids, or inhalers at this event.

If you can’t make it on April 24, remember—safe disposal options are available in our community all year long. Together, we can make our homes and neighborhoods safer.
