Denton County ESD No. 1 & 2 are proud to host our annual Memorial Walk and Fire Station Open House to honor our fallen heroes, support first responders, and connect with the community we proudly serve.

This meaningful event will include a 5-mile memorial walk (map below) recognizing the sacrifice and service of first responders and military personnel, followed by an open house at the fire station where families and community members can meet firefighters, tour equipment and apparatus, learn about emergency services, and enjoy community activities.

EVENT DETAILS

Date: Saturday, May 16th, 2026 - Rain or Shine

Time: 8am-Noon

Location: Station 511 (511 Gibbons Rd S, Argyle TX 76226)

Parking: Station 511 (carpooling encouraged)

WALK: Begins promptly at 8am - please arrive early.  We encourage walkers that are veterans and first responders to wear their gear.   CoServ is generously providing a light grab-and-go style breakfast prior to the walk - first come, first served.  The route is approximately 5 miles and will go to and from Marty B's.  Marty B's is graciously providing water and breakfast tacos at the halfway point.  Participants will then walk back to Station 511.

FIRE STATION OPEN HOUSE: Begins at approximately 10am upon arrival of the walkers. Guests are invited to enjoy a fun-filled Fire Station Open House featuring **FREE** activities for the entire family. Community members will have the opportunity to tour the fire station, meet firefighters and emergency personnel, explore fire apparatus and equipment, and learn more about the services provided by Denton County ESD No. 1 & 2.

The open house includes:

  • Hamburgers and hotdogs cooked fresh off the grill by your firefighters (thank you to LSA Burgers!)
  • Kona Ice Snow Cones 
  • Balloon artist
  • Face painting
  • An inflatable water slide provided by Lantana Cares
  • Educational fire safety information
  • Opportunities to interact with local first responders

Guests of all ages are encouraged to attend. Whether you come to walk in remembrance, learn more about your local fire service, or simply spend time with your community, we welcome you to be part of this special occasion.

This event reflects our continued commitment to honoring service, fostering community relationships, and supporting the mission of those who protect and serve every day.
